About

We get asked all the time, why import cider to a country that produces more cider than anywhere in the world?

The simple answer is that while the UK may have some fantastic ciders, it has nothing like this.

France takes cider — like it takes wine, cheese, and all its produce — extremely seriously. They understand the significance of seasonality on the fruit, and so all bottles are vintaged cuvées according to the year of harvest. They understand the importance of terroir toward the final product, with orchards traditionally being less intensively planted than in England. Though most importantly, they are fermented in the ancestral method, with naturally occurring yeasts on the fruit's skin, to create a Pétillant Naturel — a beautiful delicate bubble, that leaves a fantastic finish in the mouth.

The final product is refined and sophisticated. It stands up on its own, and pairs beautifully with a meal — made for sharing by the glass, not the pint.

There's an electric natural cider scene growing across Normandy and Brittany — and yet so little makes its way across the channel. We created Cidermugs to change that, to bring our favourite producers to the UK through limited and exclusive imports. We're very excited for our first range to work with Cyprien, and we can't wait for you to try his ciders.
